integrating technology in learning

Now a day, good schools do not just happen; they are made. By knowing this, one of the things that we should be attended to is integrating technology in all aspects of learning and teaching. Means, we should go beyond computer labs which eliminate technology in the students learning environment. Therefore, effectively, students should be encouraged to use technology in organizing their academic tasks, such as setting examinations , quizzes, home works and reminding them of their assignments due dates. Also teaching would interest students more by using these big monitors for displaying lessons that include relevant pictures and drawings, instead of using old styles of teaching, such as black or white boards and markers. Moreover, schools should have technology facilitators/coordinators to consult with and who can assist students as well as teachers.

Technology and my Life

Technology and my life is no further than using a computer for searching or typing and a mobile to get a name and call someone. It is basically more than I really need and makes my life easier. I do not find myself really interested in looking for how something should be fixed in the computer, and then I have to send it to someone to fix it for me. I know it is really annoying because I have to wait for hours or maybe for days until it is returned. As a result, my work will be accordingly delayed. Sometimes the problem is minor, that with a little knowledge I should have fixed it myself.
Moreover, I am a very slow typing person and know nothing about things I always hear like photo shop, making backgrounds and designing websites, even my email if I do not know that somebody sends me one related to my study, I never check it. Therefore, my account is always blocked. I always wonder when I hear or see some people, how can they sit for these very long hours facing that small monitor just for pleasure. For me, I can’t stand sitting for more than an hour unless I have to get my assignments or projects done. However, sometimes when I need some information quickly and easily, then searching the net is the best where I can get it. As a wife, a mother, and a student, it is really saves my time. For example, when I decide to cook something that is not in my cooking books, I easily search the net for the ingredients. Also another example is when I need information about something concerning my children, recently, potty training, I find it really helpful to search the net then to search my books!

free writing (colours and their meaning)

Colours and their Meanings

What is a Colour?

Out of the many vibrations reaching the earth, a tiny octave is registered by the optic nerves. Our eyes respond to these particular vibrations with a reaction that we know as a colour. Here are the colours in the order in which they appear in the spectrum:
o RED has the lowest vibration, It stimulates, warm, excites and cheers: to increase the activity of the arterial blood: to energize. Is the colour of Mars, whose stone is Ruby and whose metal is iron.
o ORANGE is the second colour in the spectrum. It is associated with the Sun, and has also a warming and invigorating effect. Orange is stimulating to the emotions. It is also considered the colour of the brave.
o YELLOW is the third colour of the spectrum. This colour belongs to the planet Mercury. This colour has stood for wisdom and intellect throughout the ages. Yellow lamps or glass windows stimulate the nerves of the brain and the body.
o GREEN is the fourth colour which stands in the center of the scale of seven colours. Green gives stability, endurance and quietude. We are allowed much of it to look at in nature and to partake of as nourishment. Its action is to cool the blood and animate the nerves.
o BLUE belongs to the Planet Venus, the giver of Love, devotion and harmony. Its stone is the Amethyst, the super-sacred of the seven jewels.
o INDIGO is the sixth colour of the scale. It is, like green, a meeting-ground for all the colours. It shows dignity and high aspirations.
o VIOLET is the seventh and last colour of the spectrum. It represents the seventh and highest quality a person attains- noble spiritual aspiration. Therefore it has always been connected to the priestly ceremonies. It cools the nerves, is magnetic and antiseptic. Purple and violet speak of honour, spirituality and self-esteem.

My favourite colour is orange. I do like this colour because it is so bright, full of energy and it gives me the urge to do something creatively. I think this beautiful colour is reflecting my personality, as I am so emotional and in the same time so lively and joyfully. What is interesting about it, is what I have read about carrying or placing something orange around your home or office stimulates creativity, mental quickness, and ability to adjust to changes. Moreover, it has been said that wearing orange during times of stress, or shock can help to balance your emotions. It can bring about the willingness to embrace new ideas with enjoyment and a sense of exploration and creative play.

WHAT YOU (AS A LEARNER) DEMAND

I do believe that I am a self motivated student. This is what most of my teachers think about me. It is a fact that motivation is a necessity in life by which anyone can do anything. For me personally, trusting my self, having hope, learning from mistake, working hard, cooperating and interacting with my friends and teachers besides my family’s support and encouragement would extremely push me to much better performance. As a KG student, I am really enjoying studying childhood as it is an interesting major. It answers most of my questions as a mother and it is something very related to my real life. That is why I am so motivated when I attend my classes and do my assignments and projects. I strongly believe in the “LL”: LOVE IT or LEAVE IT! I know because I LOVE IT, I will be something in the future.

MY GOALS

Before about ten years, when I graduated from my secondary school and joined the girls’ college here in Jeddah, there were no goals in my life. I did not know where to go, what to do or even what my future might be. Nothing could satisfy me in that college as the choices were very limited. Though, I decided to study English literature and could hardly pass tow years. Then, things in my life changed after I got married and had my first daughter “Jana” in Britain. I became really interested in children and decided to complete my study in early childhood education. Fortunately, I did find myself in that major and could successfully finish one academic year which was extremely interesting and benefitaul. However, for some reasons, I quitted my study there and came back home at the time when I had my second daughter “Ghena”. Few years later, I heard about Effat College offering the same major of early childhood education. Well, I was full of ambition and could not wait to go and register. It was not that easy to be a full time student again after being a mother for tow. Yet now, I am a mother for four as I had my other tow daughters, “Seba” and “Ruba”, the thing that made my study a big challenge in my life and through which, I would achieve my goal of becoming a wonderful mother and an expert in dealing with young children. I strongly believe in Allah and then myself and those who love and support me; I know I can do it!
